About Toby Taylor

Toby Taylor is a long-time Chaffee County resident, builder, and business owner who has spent nearly three decades helping shape the community he calls home.

Toby and his wife Regina have been married for over 35 years and moved to Salida in 1995. Their family has deep roots in the county—raising their two sons here, with their youngest born at the original Salida hospital. Today, their commitment to Chaffee County continues as a multi-generational investment in the community.

For most of his career, Toby has worked in construction and real estate, playing a direct role in many well-known projects throughout the county. His experience includes commercial and residential developments across Chaffee County, including work in South Main, Game Trail, and key community projects such as the relocation of Amica’s and Su Casa, additions to the hospital, and construction of the new Salida High School.

As the owner of Colorado ICF Builders, Toby has built numerous homes locally and developed strong working relationships with the county’s building department, subcontractors, suppliers, and real estate professionals. His reputation is built on hands-on experience, accountability, and a deep understanding of the challenges facing local builders and homeowners.

In addition to construction, Toby and his family designed, built, and operate one of Chaffee County’s largest storage facilities. What began as a family venture has grown into a successful, multi-generational business, now spanning over 6.5 acres with hundreds of storage units and parking spaces. Despite receiving a significant offer to sell, Toby and his family chose to keep the business locally owned demonstrating their long-term commitment to the community.

Why Toby is Running

After decades of working within Chaffee County’s construction, housing, and business environment, Toby has seen firsthand how increasing regulations, rising costs, and rapid policy changes are impacting local families, businesses, and the future of the community.

He believes many current policies—particularly in building codes, land use regulations, and property taxation—are making it increasingly difficult for residents to afford to live and work in Chaffee County.

Toby is especially concerned about:

  • Overly complex and burdensome land use regulations

  • State-mandated building codes that drive up housing costs

  • A lack of clarity and consistency in planning and zoning

  • Property tax increases that are pricing residents—especially seniors—out of their homes

He has also witnessed growing frustration from community members who feel their voices are not being heard in county decision-making.

A Vision for Chaffee County

Toby Taylor is running for County Commissioner to bring practical, real-world experience back into local government.

His priorities include:

  • Restoring common-sense regulations that support growth without overburdening residents

  • Improving transparency and accountability in county decision-making

  • Protecting property rights and ensuring fair, understandable land use policies

  • Addressing affordability so families and future generations can continue to live in Chaffee County

  • Supporting long-term, sustainable economic growth rooted in the needs of the local community

Toby believes that meaningful change will require not just leadership, but community involvement. His campaign is focused on building a team of engaged residents who are committed to shaping the future of Chaffee County together.

A Commitment to the Long Term

Toby isn’t running for short-term politics—he’s focused on long-term solutions.

With deep roots in the community, a lifetime of hands-on experience, and a commitment to keeping Chaffee County a place where families can thrive, Toby Taylor is ready to serve and lead.
